Common Evaporative Cooler Issues And Ways To Deal With Them

Blog

Evaporative coolers are a type of AC unit that uses evaporation to cool temperatures. If you have one of these devices in your home, it may experience these issues from time to time. You can respond accordingly, though, thanks to this repair advice.

Lack of Airflow

One of the more common problems with evaporative coolers is a lack of airflow. You'll notice this problem right away, and the culprit could be a number of issues. For example, there may be a problem with the power supply that warrants you resetting the breaker.

Another problem could be a malfunctioning motor. If it's overheating and shutting down, you'll need to have this component replaced by a repair contractor as quickly as possible. They'll bring out a compatible replacement motor and get it situated as quickly as possible.

No Cool Air

One of the more troubling issues to experience with your evaporative cooler is when no cool air comes out. It may be only slightly cold or even warm. The first thing you'll want to check is the pads. They may need more water to create cold air.

Or the problem could be with the pump. It may have a clog that then needs to be removed by a professional repair contractor. They can clear tubes and valves out quickly so that your evaporative cooler can begin making cold air again. They can also replace valves or tubes if they have structural damage that's causing air to leak out.

Foul Odors

If you don't get in the habit of changing your cooler's reservoir water, then foul odors can start developing. This is usually an indication of bacteria growth. You need to address it right away before your system actually causes health problems.

Fortunately for this issue, all you have to do is completely drain the water in the pan and reservoir and put new water in. It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes, and then you'll have a clean system that's ready to use again. Changing the cooler's water frequently is one of the best preventative maintenance steps you can perform.

There are a lot of homes today that rely on evaporative coolers to make cold air. If your property does as well, then it's important to keep up with maintenance. Part of this involves addressing various issues that come up, which isn't difficult if you're proactive and hire evaporative cooler repair professionals when necessary.

Talking About Electric Heating Systems

Hi there, my name is Shelley. Welcome to my site about electric heating systems. Electric heat has recently fallen out of favor due to the efficiency of natural gas systems. Electric heat is still suitable for small buildings that do not need the high temps provided by upgraded systems. I will use this site to explore all of the building types that can benefit from electric heating systems. I will also share information about system components, installations and repairs. I welcome you to come by often to learn more about this exciting topic. Thanks for coming by. See you soon.
