Signs Your Air Conditioner Is Due For Servicing

Blog

Air conditioners can serve you for years without having to worry about a replacement. But just like any other machine, it needs to be checked and serviced at least once a year. This ensures your AC is working properly and nothing needs to be changed. Some homeowners tend to skip maintenance checks, but they can't keep doing that. At one point or the other, you'll notice your AC is not working as it used to be.

Below are a few signs you need to call in for air conditioning services.

Unusual Noises

Air conditioners are designed to make low-level noises whenever they are switched on or off. If your AC starts making loud or unusual noises, you need to call an HVAC professional to check it out. In most cases, buzzing or rattling noises indicate a loose part, while whistling noises can signal something serious.

A professional tune-up will be necessary to get rid of the unusual noises. Never ignore the noises as they might lead to something serious.

Bad Odors

Faulty HVAC systems can sometimes produce unpleasant odors. If you smell any awful odors coming from your air conditioner, you should get it checked immediately. Any hesitation may make the smell worse to the extent you can't stay in your house.

A quick diagnostic visit will determine if the AC needs a complete cleaning session, a tune-up, or a more high-tech solution.

High Humidity

As much as summers and springs are characterized by high humidity, your air conditioner should automatically moderate moisture levels. Failure to do so is a sign your HVAC system is not working well and needs servicing.

Your technician will check if a simple recalibration can rectify the issue. If the problem doesn't go away, you'll have to purchase a dehumidifier instead.

High Energy Bills

If your AC is working as required, your energy bills will remain low. On the other hand, if you find that your energy bills are hitting an all-time high during summer, your AC is probably faulty. In that case, you should have a technician inspect your AC for any faults. If there are any issues, your air conditioning servicing company will have them addressed, saving you money in the long run.

Water Leaks

As you probably know, an AC relies on refrigerant to cool your space. Unfortunately, the HVAC system can produce condensation, which causes water to leak around it. Such water leaks are a clear sign your AC needs to be serviced. Failure to have the issue addressed can lead to severe structural damage in your home. Contact an AC service for more information.

Talking About Electric Heating Systems

Hi there, my name is Shelley. Welcome to my site about electric heating systems. Electric heat has recently fallen out of favor due to the efficiency of natural gas systems. Electric heat is still suitable for small buildings that do not need the high temps provided by upgraded systems. I will use this site to explore all of the building types that can benefit from electric heating systems. I will also share information about system components, installations and repairs. I welcome you to come by often to learn more about this exciting topic. Thanks for coming by. See you soon.
